Hey!

I am getting close to ordering a tank, and am wondering who has the Synergy Reef Overflow System and what size you would recommend.

The new tank will be 72" Long x 36" Wide x 24" Tall... so about 270 gallons.

Would you get the 20" Version that is capable of handling 2500 gallons per hour? That should be plenty right?

Also, any other alternatives? Things you like or don't like? Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Do you want a fairly simple set up? If just shopping around, wait till Macna, talk to the dudes coming out, there should be some interesting stuff there.

Oh ****! Looking forward to the build. Those dims are gonna be sweet.
Thanks Matt.

Bean buy my tank instead
Too big, thanks though.

What's MACNA? :p The tank needs to be ordered soon if I want it by November... I'm not sure I can wait that long so I need to decide on the overflow now.

Who's building your tank? Why don't you get a coast to coast external overflow made by the tank manufacturer?
Most likely AGE. I will look into it. I just liked the idea of the Synergy or similar, so I can just order the tank with the bulkhead holes drilled and call it a day. They are really nice and quiet. I am hesitant to add additional glass seams behind the tank for an external system.

After asking my reefer buddy Ivan, AGE does not offer a coast to coast overflow... although a few are shown on their website.

is it going to be a peninsula type of tank? I would second a coast to coast overflow.
Not a peninsula.

Yeah I have. And his tank is much larger.

This looks like a better design to my eye.

Thanks, I'll check these out. Hmmm, maybe the 60" version would do the trick.

72" side. I wanted a peninsula, but it was going to look funny in the room in needs to go in.

Who built that overflow? Aaron?

I'm pretty sure that a Aaron sonnus special.

I think Aaron will even do an aluminum bracing around the tank as well. You may want to talk with him before you order an AGE. I think WayneL333 tank was an AGE tank modified by Aaron.

yeah. this will be your tank you will be keeping for a while. do it right dont have any regrets. my overflow is quiet. nothing sticking out in the front. yes it cost more but just bite the bullet. sell a bounce mushroom or trade a bounce mushroom. do it right. or be like toan. tank after tank after tank.

ndrwater ... Ivan is telling me he has the 20" Synergy. He likes it a lot and its dead silent like you said. I saw the tank and overflow before he got it all set up... I need to get by there and check it out.

Doing it right by not having any overflow box in the tank? Otherwise no other advantages...

I know a guy who does welding, he has a small welding shop in Santa Ana and does a lot of work for the company I work for. Some of our material need load bearing structures of about 2K lbs. That is why I trusted his work and asked him to do my tank stand. His prices are very competitive. He will do exactly what you tell him once it come to making the stand. Send me a text if you want his number, would not hurt to get a few bids for the stand.
