I believe the tank is 21" high. I have mostly softies and a few SPS but will be adding more. I currently have a 4x54w fixture and growth just doesn't seem to be what I'm expecting. Would the 8x80w be overkill? If so, would a 4 or 6 bulb be better suited.

imo you can never have to much t-5s...my 120g that I am setting up will have 2 250watt halides and 8-t5s....pack as many T-5s that will fit over your tank if you plan to do SPS mainly....if not then you are just fine with your set-up

Just ordered a 60" 6x80w Tek light with the following ATI bulbs

1x aquablue
4x blue+
1x purple+

No way this will fit inside the canopy so I'll be going topless.

What would be the last2 bulb?

IMO it's all good that way when you decide to go to a more high end coral you got the light.

I only went with the 6 bulb fixture. 8 bulb is too wide and would overhang from the edge.

The fixture came in yesterday and man this is one nice looking fixture. I tested it with all the bulbs installed and it's just blinding. Since it's the full length of my tank I no longer have deadspots like before with a 48".

One gripe I have is the acrylic shield was about 1/4" too long so I had to trim it. For $42 I'd expect it to fit perfect without any work. I'll have to do more adjustments with the mounting legs because they aren't sitting as securely on the tank as I'd like.
