TDM's 85 Gallon Build

So I got the tank from CSULB for FREE because they were cleaning out some storage space. It was originally used as an intertidal display tank for a lab I work in. It had a stand that came with it but it was poopy so my old man and I are building a new one.

I have a current 45 gallon set up which I'm gonna recycle some parts from but for the most part, I wanna start as fresh as possible.

Here it goes!

Here are the frame for the stand, DIY sump ("Originally" $120 at petco but for sale for $40) and the the bulk of the frame w/o sump inside

Here is my stand w/ sump currently. The stand has GFCI outlets imbedded in the neat-o storage cabinets.

My favorite part of my sump is the little custom filter sock holder. It was machined the hold three 4 inch socks.

Will the tank cover the whole top or will there be some lip?

There's gonna be some lip. The stands actually a tiny bit bigger than the tank because it had to fit the sump.... DONT TELL ANYONE

So, after a really long time, my tank is finally running water. The issues to fix tomorrow are the leaky tubes on the BRS Dual reactor.

I'm also trying that Dr.Tim's one and only. Ammonia dropped form .05 to .025 in two days but well see where this goes!

I'm just have a mixed community tank. I like to have functional fish and inverts. I'm gonna have a mixed coral population leaning towards SPS. My other goal is to be more "reef friendly" trying to get maricultured livestock. I'd love to be out of the box with this tank but I don't think I have the funds or time to maintain anything weird.
