My tank was running fine over the summer and as its gotten colder my fish began to have health problems mainly ICH. I just checked my tank this morning (11am) and the temperature is 76 from the usual 79-80 so I wouldn't like to guess what it was at 3am this morning.

Would you say this kind of temperature drop would cause ICH to show up?

I Did notice my blue hippo get ich, he had white spots all over him when it started to get real cold out, my tank has the same tempatures as you do. He was fine was still eating like crazy and swimming around but i medicated him just to be sure and the spots have gone away, i have been running my refugium light throughout the night to keep something somewhat warm dont know if it has made a difference lol....

I just lost a 6" emporer angel who I believe brought ich into the tank and my naso tang is showing slight white spots. I just added another 300w heater so it should be good now. The temp may have been 73-74 over night.

73 to 80 is a huge temp swing from night to day. fish might have been stressed out from the swing.

73 is just a guess but at 11am it was 76 so I would say it could be close.

Damnnnn do you run a heater on a controller?

Just a single 300w heater just added another 300w heater no controller. I should have checked to see if the temp was dropping overnight but my stupidity has most likely cost me a $120 fish.

Invest on a good heater like a jbj true temp. I have a 800 watts heater on my 135 gallons, no issues... I have a PB, Blue, Yellow belly tang which are ich magnets :/

I had a tang in my frag tank. Only had a heater, and no fan. Tang was completely fine until the hotter months started rolling in. The temp in the tank would be 77* ish at night, and 81-82* during the day.

Ending up losing the fish to ich. Ending up buying a ranco temp controller and a fan. Now the tank is usually 78-79* all the time. A temp controller is a must. Since it's just my frag tank, I couldn't justify another apex.
