What is amazing to me is how quick people trash Blake for things that may very well be out of his control. I am sure that he didn't plan for this to happen. Is everybody's life so bad that they can't live without a website once in a while? Do you honestly think that he wants to read and listen to the enormous amount of trash talking that he will be hit with when he gets it fixed?

He was trying to improve the site by moving it to a better hosting service. Obviously they have issues. Give him a little time to change vendors. Hang out here. I have been lurking on this site for quite a while because there is no reason why I can't be on multiple sites. If one goes down, I'll just hang out on the other. It really isn't a big deal.

Hmmm :hmmmm: He was the first one to trash JM for not doing his job as owner/admin of SDR.

I'll trash his *** as much as I like.

My sentiments exactly, Dave.

Based on what little I have been able to determine, I have a hunch that there was a catastrophic hardware failure.

This is frustrating... I'm a paid member on SDReefs and as such have certain expectations of the site owner. Fortunately, I've been a member of Socali Reefs for a while now, even a TOTM winner over here. I'm hoping Blake gets these issues worked out and gets the site on a reliable host. There are a lot of sites out there that don't have the problems SDReefs is experiencing. Maybe he could find out who hosts SoCali reefs and switch to their host server?

This site provides much more for free.
yes SDReefs is a nice sale/trade website for the San Diego area.. But thats all it is.

Because hosting a BB like these with the amount of traffic they have is not free and while they do have site sponsors, it is not enough to cover the costs unless you are a really big site, say RC. Anyway, back in the day SDReefs asked for donations to help cover the expense. I use the site quite regularly so I feel it is important to support it. If I spent more time on SoCaliReefs I'd donate to it too. If I start spending more time on this site because old reliable isn't anymore... well you get the picture.

I don't blame Blake for things that are out of his control, but the lack of feedback on what the heck is going on, is...frustrating.

People like we said everyone is welcome here and that's why the ADMIN of SoCalireefs have done this to assist all of you, And after reading all the frustration of the MEMBERS of SDReefs it would be NICE for the SDReefs ADMIN and MODS to let the member know what the situation with the site and not let them wondering in the dark IMO.
