So gone for Sequioa over the weekend with no phone signal. Get signal when climbing Moro Rock and 42 Apex Alert messages bombard my phone. Temperature had risen to 89.6F over two days. Texted my brother to turn the dumb AC on in my room.
Thank goodness for the Apex, it could've been much worse.

R.I.P. Ultimate Efflo, ORA Hawkins, and Pink Millie. Also the frogspawn is not looking too hot either. Now thinking of buying tado smart AC so I can control the portable AC in my room.

Really just sucks since those corals were actually doing well and encrusting over the plug and onto the base rock. Oh well I guess it happens.

I feel your pain. The wife turned off the AC while we where gone for the weekend... tank hit 89 degrees. Lost a couple pieces i picked up from 2 guy corals and 1 really nice piece i got from nrdwater. She knows now to just rurn it up to 80 instead of off. **** this heat.

The frogspawn will bounce back probably. Mine has survived 3 heat spike now in the last year or so. First one the tank hit 98 because of a failed heater. Thought it totally died but i never broke the skeleton off the rock. 2 months later it started growing back. Survived 2 more spikes of 88-89 after that. both times it just shrivled up for a couple days then enflated back up.

I feel your pain. My tank has a chiller but, the AC was out for 2 weeks. Temp was all over place and I lost a few pieces. Summer is rough on reefs...

True, but would've saved your sticks
Thought of that long ago. I'd rather have a cold room where everyone including my fish, my fluffy old English sheepdog, my wife and I are happy rather than all of us suffering from heat only to benefit the aquarium inhabitants.

1. It generates heat.
2. It consumes as much or more electricity than the AC I use now.
3. Literally no room to put the chiller, already pushing it with the ATO reservoir.

I think my best choice is to be able to control my AC from my mobile phone and be able to program it just like I do with the Apex. It'll be cheaper and it makes more sense than having to buy a chiller.

Thanks for the kind words. The frogspawn is all shriveled up now and looks pretty pissed. I'm glad my rose anemone made it and it looks as if nothing has happened to it. All of the splits are just crazy resilient.

How about some cheap clip on fans that will kick on when your tank hits a temp. I had one on my system a while back when it was in the garage and tank never went over 84

Yes they are fun. They are quite challenging to maintain that stability but once the parameters are all in line it's truly rewarding.

No worries Bean, your bambams made it through the disaster. Thanks for the offer, I'm just hoping little smidgeons of zoaxenthellae survived and can promulgate through the dead bleached parts. I'll leave the skeletons in there for a month or so before I throw them out.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll look into that. I'm glad the Apex was able to turn off the T5s and Fuge light so that it didn't get any hotter. How big should the fan be? Any fan suggestions in particular?

I think you can get these anywhere. Bulky but easily clip onto your stand or sump. It will be nice insurance next time you are out of town.
