Just remember Australia gets 100s during the summer and the water temp increases. You need to have the hotter times for summer IMO which will copy natural habitat a little more. But a downside to the warmer water is more feeding for the fish as their metabolism speeds up in warmer waters. Mine right now is sitting about 80 and see no negative side effects and during the day is gets to 82-83.

Fan kicked on and off all day yesterday. I don't think the water ever got over 80 but I'll check the controller later today. Did notice I need a larger ATO reservoir.

Ugh, I can't wait to get rid of my garage tank. It gets so hot, so I have to keep the fan on to keep it at 80. Highest I hit today was 82.
I have my sump in the garage and its not too bad. Is your garage door insulated?

Some Sps owners will say that mid seventies produce nicer coloration. I'm in the opinion that seasons need to exist and temp needs to swing. If they can't live with a Lil warm water so be it.

Sannababbits thread is great. Great tank and cray cray temp swings and his tank was totm worthy.
I concur when i had my tank mid seventies was the sweet spot but for growth warmer seemed better.

Yea sana tank was nice and to bad it crashed right after the totm nomination.

My tank was 84 today. I removed the heater, and will be removing the lid, hope nothing jumps out.
Becareful some corals can tolerate it for short periods but not pro long exposure. Also in a very heavy stocked system higher temps means less oxygen and can start a chain reaction to a crash.

Where is the fan located? I use to put it right on top of my sump the closer the better.

I have read some where also the increase tmps can also indirectly kill corals by magnifying the effects of infectious diseases, which are one of the primary causes of coral loss, during the summer time. The severity of marine diseases could increase with temperature for several reasons. Because elevated water temperature causes corals physiological stress, it can also compromise their immune system, potentially making them more susceptible to infections. Additionally, increased temperature could also benefit bacterial and fungal pathogens, making them more fit and/or virulent. hth
