the little 3g reef

This is the first saltwater tank that i've ever attempted. I know I know I should have started with a bigger one.... but I seem to have bad luck with bigger tanks.

but now on to the reef tank.

The tank: JBJ 3 gallon
Filter: Aqua Clear 50 HOB. Modded to a fuge with heater, floss and chemipure elite
Light: BoostLED 3 Blue 2 White, on a home made fixture

ATO with relay switch (dont want to fry everything)

Rock: dry Caribbean rock from Reefcleaners
Sand: Fiji sand

This is what i have in the tank so far after the cycle:


- Clean up crew from ReefCleaners as well (i think i got a super crew or something :rant: )
- 1 Electric blue hermit
- African steel zoas
- 1 green toadstool frag
- some unknown zoas
- incredible rainbow zoas
- red magician zoas
- Tubs blue zoas
- pink and green war coral (i think)
- green dotted mushrooms - multiplying already
- some lemon drop zoas

so far im feeding the nerites and the electric blue hermit sea weed to keep them happy

is there any way to stop nerites from wandering? they carpet surf way too often! almost ended up in the fresh water tank which would have been bad lol

hahah thanks again man!

so far its pretty easy to maintain. I open my window during the day so if I didnt have the ATO it would be a lot more work. i've had the corals for just about 2 weeks now and i got some more this week. i think i'll have to feed some of them.

the toadstool isn't happy anymore and doesn't extend like it used to :sad:

i dipped the corals i got today in an iodine solution and WOW all sorts of critters fell off lol including 3 bright red worms. im glad i dipped them lol
