Excuse me? Are you saying your sales were poor? Seems you had plenty of traffic at your 10-foot booth, especially being next to John.
100% of vendors I spoke to said sales were the slowest out of all of the MAX shows they've sold at. That place was a ghost town and pretending like there was all kinds of traffic is disingenuous at best. At the end of the day your actions decreased turnout, you literally told the most local reef community to stay home, and with low attendance percentage of people who chose not to go due to your trolling is high enough that you should have something adult and responsible to say about it instead of antagonizing the people you screwed over.

I don't think they taught him that in grad school, he would have told us if they did.

Plenty of traffic?? LOL ok if that's how you saw it, there's nothing to discuss.

I don't need you to tell me how business was for me since I witnessed it first hand all day.

you weren't involved, your post is pointless
If I was involved I'd be taking you to small claims for Tortious Interference amongst other things to get the cost of the booth back and winning in about 15 seconds with the ample evidence provided here. If any vendors would like instructions on how to do so feel free to pm me, it's much easier than you think and you'll be recouping costs that are owed to you along with doing something that for once makes Kevin have to stand responsible for his behavior.

We are... I was a vendor... I helped out at LARS, SCAPE and aquarium hot deals... I tried to diffuse scary be said in earlier post... You think i didn't want people to go...? Man... I wanted a ton of people to go including all my friends... But like I said before, I only saw a handful of them...

It's not fair... We vendors put a lot of time, effort and money into this thing... I spent the whole 3 days there and that cut away from me saying my kids... If i had to do it all over again... I would've just paid to get in on Saturday and stayed home the rest of the weekend...

It was so dead, we are running around shooting eachother in the dicks with rubber bands and no one cared... Lol...

Whatever man...

How incredibly pretentious of you.
For those who do not know,
Miguel is one of MANY who attempted to get a deeply discounted booth at MAX but was denied.
Kevin what on earth makes you think I'd be short sighted enough to not see something like this coming and save your pm's to preempt the shameful behavior and lies you resort to when you inevitably paint yourself into a corner? I'm honestly surprised this site lets you get away with the appalling shenanigans that have gotten just plain predictable at this point.

let's all calm down a bit before things get out of hand.

some things to consider:
  1. more shows here in socal gives us hobbyists more opportunities to get together and share stories / experiences, as well as an easy way to see new products on the market
  2. more exposure = more people in the hobby = bringing cost down faster = good for us hobbyists
  3. more shows gives flexibility for people who may not be able to make another show for one reason or another.. options are good to have

now, if for whatever reason, you choose not to go to the show, it's OK. i know that there were LFS that i refused to go to after negative experience there. however, i maintain that it's better to have multiple shows in socal, rather than losing one of them due to bad press.

i think it's much more productive to present constructive feedback so that the show could be better next year. in that light, i would present the following:

  • for better or worse, it's out there now on how Kevin treated potential vendors via email. it's 100% up to Kevin on how to deal with it, but if there were no additional information to turn around the perception, i think a mea culpa would go a long way to assuring vendors that future MAX shows will be as, if not more inclusive than this year.
  • high pressure sales tactics may work for some people, but generally doesn't work as expected. I think a carrot approach for future shows will net better results compared to the stick.
  • customers / visitors drive the show, I would suggest that EVERY opinion matters to the promoter/organizer. the nature of human interaction is one where people don't really remember every positive thing said, but negative things tend to stick to them.

on that point, i would suggest that the negative feedback are actually more important than the positive, because it's through the negative feedbacks that a promoter can address deficiencies in order to improve. positive feedback generally doesn't have the same ability to push positive growth.

hopefully we can get some constructive feedback going. No matter your opinion of MAX, losing a local show does no one any favors.

I thought people were trying to give constructive feedback and these are the types of responses given by the sponsor:
I'm terribly sorry, young man, and this is your business why???
you weren't involved, your post is pointless
And of course this one which was proven to be a lie.
How incredibly pretentious of you.

How about instead we consider the following: is the community on this site well-served by a sponsor who is willing to step on the profits and integrity of other sponsors on here and then laugh in their face over it? Does this site need a sponsor whose reaction to their incessant unacceptable behavior is packs of lies ("I totally didn't blacklist this store for no reason") upon lies ("there was so much traffic at MAX so shut up you made money") upon lies ("you tried to get a deeply discounted booth and were denied") upon lies ("what is this car booting you speak of when you saw me carrying a car boot")? I saved that pm 4+ months ago knowing I'd eventually need it because when you say "no" to Kevin it's only a matter of time until he finds a reason to take it out on you.

Communities like scr are built on camaraderie and a sense of unity, Kevin not only excels in destroying that but actually revels in "playing the villain" and makes it his public purpose on here. You remember SCNRS? Not many do, because a user just like that nuked the forum. Eventually if this is a place that tolerates people using it as their own personal crapping grounds then people are going to make a home elsewhere. When mods chime in on Kevin's meltdowns it's always with this false sense of balance like "oh let's all just get along it takes two to tango," it helps no one to continue ignoring Kevin's destructive behavior just because he is a paid sponsor. That sponsor platform is built on users being here to see them.

Nah I think Kevin's is full of it. I'm in no way asking anyone to tone it down. He deserves all he gets. Jeff is just trying to do the right thing but in reality thinks very different.
