So if your seen my last post on the controller threads I picked up a full apex the other day I have yet to open it up and been wrestling with myself. I currently have 2 Chinese led fixtures supplemented with 4 t5s and the LEDS have down their job well o may add But they are a ***** having 4 channels to control as well as not knowing their TRUE potential. And I been debating to return my apex and pick up either. A AI HYDRA or Radion unit and wait a lil bit for the apex since I TECHNICALLY don't need it as of now. By having proven lights would be a smarter investment. What wondering what some of you guys thought and then what fixture to get aswell. Open to all opinions on LEDs

The problem I have is everything looks pretty good. And polyp extension looks nice. I just don't know what the PAR might be and I also don't like that if I wanna get an apex these arnt controllable so apex for my lights is useless

Dylan,
I think your corals look good and what make you think your current light not is good without experience it in the long run? Par reading is good to have, but corals reading is much better indication, because I talked with reefer who said he doesn't even know what PAR is, some said his par reading was like 80 on sandbed and grow stuffs, while other said 200 to 300 to work.
It is depend on stability of your tank.
What is your main purpose when getting the controller at the first place? control temp , light, skimmer or hype?
If you want particular equipment to control why not look at Jr controller ? you don't need full apex without using full potential of it. save money to buy different equipment.

my opinion is ....if your tank is thriving on what you have right now...why waste money or do any changes...just relax and enjoy your tank w/o wasting $$...spend it else where....

So with that being said. I was THINKING possibly going with an apex jr instead. (I can always add stuff later) and picking up a Radion xr15 pro and running that with 4 t5s. How's that sounding? Lol. I personally want to be able to control my lights. I like that kind of cool stuff and it's insanely cramped inside my canopy with two huge led modules and t5s aswell

Bear in mind, having control of your lights is somewhat of a double-edged sword. Sure it's great to be able to tweak your lights and ramp them and all that crap. The downfall is that people tend to endlessly screw around with their lights. Corals are like old people, they HATE change. The more stable you can keep your system the better.

So eralier today I made the decision and decided to go with the apex Jr instead. Which I know will have mixed reviews. But I'm not going full crazy controlled right off the bat so if I have to build it up over time I'm okay with that. I orders Radion xr15w pro lights that I will have running beside my 4 t5 bulbs. It's possible to run a Ethernet cable to the room but don't really have the desire to have a cable running across the floor so I decided to go with a NETGEAR WNCE2001 Universal WiFi Internet Adapter. To hook it up. Should have it Saturday and will set it all up and get it running

Thank you for everyone's input. I ultimately went with what I could afford and personal preference for my current budget. I cannot thank Matt at Age of Aquariums as he was very helpful as always and never pressures me to spend more of I don't want to hahah
