I have an ATI 6x39 Powermodule and I have been very happy with it. I took it off my tank last week to replace a ballast and bought a geisman MH fixture to use temporarily. I love the shimmer and the color but it is too large for my tank and I am not set up to deal with the heat.

So, I am thinking of switching to LED and looking to switch to the most affordable...but still high quality option. DIY is not an option.

I have seen some Kessil 350w's for a decent price. Would these be good for a 75g, 48" tank?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have LED's never used T5 and i get good growth from some corals and not others, its weird. And on those corals i mean SPS.. MY LPS grow like crazy. Most SPS grow pretty fast but a couple haven't really grown to much at all. Im actually thinking of suplementing my LEDS with a couple T5's Thinking of adding 8 T5's retro fit 4 on each side of my tank.

Also a side note... adding 8 t5s you wont even see the leds... as a supplemental id add 4

I've heard pretty consistently that the reef brights aren't brought enough to be seen over the t5s.

Those Pacific Sun fixtures are beautiful but a bit out of my price range.

The price you pay is really dictated by the colors and features you get. Just going with simple blue and white strips is not enough for LED. White LED's don't have the full spectrum corals need. So if you want to switch over completely you need a fixture that can do red, blue, UV, etc.....

Rapid LED does a light that has a nice price and you can get away with just 2 for your whole tank. But at the top you have radions and hydra for the best performance. They are the same company now and they have the most features and control capabilities without an expensive full tank system.

I have been using Hydras on my tank for about 6 months now. After the first month with weather matching and a lunar cycle my flower pot coral started to spit out little frags. Then 2 months later my maxi red carpet anenomy split on its own. Corals are growing good even SPS. I won't go back to T5s

Hey, Eric. Thanks for the response.

Do you think a Kessil would be bright enoug to add shimmer whine the t5s are on?
I never seen the kessil and t-5 together but i have seen the kessil 360 and they give out crazy shimmer. On my light fixtures i have my t-5 at 90% and my led at 50%. I do see alittle shimmer, i sure if i turn up the led i'll see more. Good luck Steve

I use the LED Powermodule too and you can definitely see the shimmer if you turn on the whites, but they'll effectively bleach your corals if you turn them up too high.

A lot of your coral will cr@p out when you switch to LEDs. Some will not comeback. Some will melt. I was real anti led. Excluding for shimmer and pop. Recently my spa started gaining color back. I have 4t5 with 12 3 watt dig in the middle for pop and shimmer. Maybe its getting use to the LEDs now. But a lot of melting and browning of sps.

Some people have crazy growth and color from LEDs. But everyone long term bows down to t5s. My is always too hot. So that's a different conversation.
