Honestly more and more I find it easier to just deal with a business.
I’ll pull the curtain back a little
So when I sell berghia to individuals I sell around 10 each or 12-13 for a $100
But when I sell to brick and mortar stores I sell them for $5 each and in most instances trade for fish or salt. I know brick and mortar shops have overhead and I know it’s harder and harder for them to compete with online sells. So I give them a great price to support their business.
This person messaged me last year saying he’s a seller and wanted to know the best price a can do. I explained how I give brick and mortar shops deals because of their overhead and I like to help them out to make money so they can stay around. He explained that he sales form his house, so I said the best deal I would do is what I sell them publicly for 10 each or deals on bulk orders but I wouldn’t be giving him the deal I give brick and mortar stores.
This Is why I hate dealing with public. These low balling scum bags try getting the best deal so they can make more money off me. Try to make me feel like the bad guy because I’m not giving them a better deal.
B**** please I’ve been in this hobby for over 23ys. I’ve spent a lot of money over the years and got scammed by a few shady people and shops. MFer has an account that is just over 2ys old and all his posts are sale threads.
Yes im publicly saying this as I don’t f***ing care. Go screw your self ass wipe

The part that gets under my skin is I was polite the first 2 times and said I give brick n mortar stores that deal to help them and bring customers in. It’s so I can see them stay in business.
I have a pet shop here in moval that I take corals to and he gives me mice for my daughter’s snake. I’ve gave him so many jaw breaker shrooms, heads of frog spawn, green star polyps, and zoas just to help his business. I could sell the corals and buy the $2 mouse but I’d rather help the business then deal with selling to people.

Damn. Really? Haha! It's not that serious. You act all high and mighty with berghia you're not the only one out there with them man. Ifgaf how long you been in the hobby. You want a cookie?

For the ones talking about trade? What you want me to ask stuff for free? I pay or trade for stuff never ask for free! That's part of the hobby right? Yall are ridiculous! Tough guys getting all bent out of shape over reefing. Some of us have to do this to make a profit I have bigger systems than most on here. Got bills to pay. Yea so what I asked for shop prices? I buy in bulk. Jeebus what a baby emac cry me a river. With your 23 years in the hobby. Get off your high horse.

Anh is a good guy , I purchased several frags from him.
Thanks man Group hug
Idk man I was polite the first to times trying to explain to him that I give the deal to actually pet shops.
So when he first messaged me (which I probably still have) he said he was a business and asked what’s the best deal I could give him. I explained that when I sell them to Jimmy at reef lounge I charge him $5 each. Yes I know retail shops will resell for $20-$30. I’m cool with that. I know the resale on most equipment is Pennie’s on the dollar and with live stock deaths during shipping and handling can be expensive. As I have stated I like to see local pets stay in business so if I can offer them a deal to get business in the door, I’m game. Now this guy asked me to give him a the deal I give brick and mortar stores, on top of asking me to give him aiptasias and helping him setup his own berghia propagation setup at his house. I said “wait you don’t have an actual pet shop?” I said “sorry man but the deal I give is to brick and mortar stores that have an actual pet shop to help them bring in customers and stay in business. If you’re running this from your garage the price is $10 each and the more you buy I’ll throw in some freebies.” He has repeatedly asked for the price I give to pet shops and my answer had been NO since he’s not a brick and mortar shop. All he had to do was play it cool and no be so pushy on the pricing and I would have cut a good deal, not what I do for pet shops but still a deal. Look at the last handful of berghia sale threads on here. They price from $20-$30 each, at minimum $15 each. I think I’m already giving the best price at $10 each. I could just say the price it $20 each and then only charge $10. I’ve always been a pretty honest guy, a straight shooter but when I feel like I’m being disrespected it pisses me off so much. Arguing about my pricing is so disrespectful in my eyes.
To even be more up front I’ve had other shops offer me more per berghia. Oceans aquatic in Redlands offered to pay $10 each and I said no thanks and explained why I offer pet shops this price. He thanked me for trying to help his business. I actually feel horrible because he has been messaging me every month asking if I had berghia since my prop tank crashed. He’s always been respectful to me so I show him respect in return.
One of the best parts in this hobby is finding a shop the is respectful and good. I’ve dealt with some shady ass pets shops and bet we all have so to help a great shop feels pretty good to me.

Ok so I offered to trade something way more valuable for a 5$ pc. And it's a bad thing? Make it make sense. Jeebus people!
I think if you see mostly everyone saying to step back and look at your part in this and other matters you have been involved in, probably best to take a look and reassess. This is a small community, if you plan on staying, best not to become a bad guy, ppl tend to really remember that.

Especially when you’re a “garage reseller” just saying.

With the money that is involved in reefing nowadays, the line between hobby and business gets mixed and feelings get hurt. I think it is best to just move on and reef on.

Guys, this hobby is meant to be fun and cool. I let this go on so both sides can have their say and get it off their chest. And we are pretty open as a forum as what you can say. But I will be closing this thread from further comment as I feel it has run its course.
