So... Was poking around my big tank a few minutes ago and just discovered something I didn't know.

Apparently, Tiger Tail Cucumbers can split. Had one big and fat yesterday, today I have 2 not quite so big, and not quite so fat.. Both seem to be going happily about their business at opposite ends of the tank.

Anybody else ever heard of this happening?

My old one split a lot. I start with 1 and end up with 6. I gave some to reefer friend. it is good for fine sand.

in my personal 150, I put two in at the beginning and 3.5yr later when I broke the tank down we found 4 in the main display, 2 in the sock/skimmer section and one in the return section of the sump. Main display ones were easily 24" when stretched out and then you would notice they would only be 16" a few days later haha

I've heard that and use to believe it but don't thing it's true anymore. I use to have two. But now I have none and have no clue where they went.
i heard if they die in your tank it will release toxin and kill your tank
Tiger tails like most cucumbers do indeed have the ability to release toxins when stressed or dying, by not bad enough to cause any real harm unless you have a really large one in a really small tank.
Sea apples and many types of boxfish are another story. Their toxins can truly wipe out a tank.
