Summer is in full swing and this time of the year is when our electrical bill is at its all time. For those like myself who do not have the luxury of solar power, lets share some tips/hacks on conserving electricity

1. Reduce lights during peak hours. In San Diego, peak hours are between 4pm - 9pm.

Get out of this Hobby;)

If your electric bill is over $200 per month switch to Time of Use and you will save money. In the Tier system once you go over a certain amount you pay the top Tier. I run the TOU-D-B Weekdays it is Super Off Peak 12cents a Kw from 10pm to 8am, 8am to 2pm is Off Peak at 17 cents a Kw, and Peak is from 2pm to 10pm at 37 cents a Kw. Weekends are even better at 8am to 10pm is off peak 17 cents per KW, and 10pm to 8am is Super off Peak at 12 cents.

When you start figuring this out better you do your laundry on the weekends or run the pool pump during super off peak at 1/3rd the cost of the Tiered system when you hit the higher tiers.

Also going to Radions on my system has cut my lighting bill by 1/3rd, Also my Chiller very rarely comes on which should save me some money. I have never run heaters in my tank because all the equipment alone keeps it above 75, we will see how much heat I loose with Radions.
