to sand or not to sand for fish only tanks

Hey im just wondering for all you fish only tanks. do you guys prefer a sand bed or no? pros and cons as i would be starting one soon thanks!

+1 on the variety of fish you can keep. I have a bare bottom tank and love it. Sand isn't always getting everywhere. My glass is never getting scratched when I clean it. Also sand is a great filter but can be a bad thing if not cleaned and taken care of. It looms nice but boy do I love not having to deal with it!
