So I finally got my dream tank a 50g cube.i previously had a standard 60 tank with a canister filter so this will be my first "sumped" tank. I got most of my equipment just need my geisemann fixture, so I want to get it started so it can cycle .as far as plumbing I'm leaning towards hard plumbing but need to be walked through it .

Here is my sump

This is my return pump

And here's my over flow it's a 1inch drain with 1/2 inch return

I believe I will go with durso overflow (I found a nice how to DIY piece on the durso) but don't know how to connect PVC to the returns.

Any help will be appreciated :)))

my 10g tank with a 48" fixture aka holding tank haha

You need a 1" bulkhead and a 1/2" bulkhead not sure why two holes for one 1/2" return. Connect your pump to the 1/2" by barb and hose to pump outlet and drain 1" to sock with pipe or hose too? I like hose from pump to inlet myself helps with sound and vibration's others like hard pipe? What do you like when you look at a system?

IDK hose seems easier but pvc looks better i think , but if you take a look at the picture of my pump it look like its a hose fitting .if i put a hose how do you go from hose to connecting it to the bulkhead ??

Just thread a barb into bottom of bulkhead and then hook to your pump. Do the same with your overflow then install your overflow and return/returns on tank side of bulkhead's. You have some nice equipment will be a sweet system. Fumbling around with our systems is how we learn the things we use down the road in this hobby:)
