They're on their last legs I think. I posted it in the wrong section like 10 minutes ago so please delete it mods. I left for about 10 days for work and my wife stayed in charge of feeding my tank. Once I got back, my btas were skinny and I haven't been able to bring them back. Let me know if you want them. I am in woodland hills and will be available all day. Here's two pics. uploadfromtaptalk1402697787157.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1402697797736.jpg

how long has it been? nems can pull back and receed for a while, and come back. when they're dying, they actually open up and have gaping mouths.

How can feeding be a problem? They can go without food for months assuming light and flow, which are controlled by timers I hope, are provided.

^^ agree with above.. They don't look so bad. May not be happy, but def not near death! If they were left 10 days, I'd try a WC to perk them up. Am curious as well about lighting?

I got back may 25th and they were okay (skinny tentacles). I immediately checked my parameters and did a WC. Everything else is doing great. I just got two frags from the LFS so I just started dosing for mg, Can, and Kh. I am running 3 Kessil a360we's for 10 hours a day. They're not all the way up on the brightness though. They were doing great (really fat) before I left.

I do feed but maybe once or twice a month. I have two OC clowns that host the anemones. I don't think its lack of food tho.

Since you recently started dosing , I assume you test as well? What are your levels?could your alk be really high( or low)? Doubt it's feeding... Mine go months and months w/o feeding.. Light / flow/ params.. All good then are the clowns beating them up? Or have they moved out of the light?

I just tested yesterday. Everything was good. I tested for pH today once I seen the anemones this way. The clowns are pretty mellow. And I see no signs of abuse.

I would wait at least 1 week coz your anemones still look healthy. From your pictures, both anemone foots are attached, the green and purple one, so looks like no hole in the foot, but if they detach and never want to ever attach to anything or they start "melting" away then they are goners. They look healthy though so they should be fine.

You were right about waiting. Two days or so after posting, the btas looked healthier and fatter. They keep getting skinny and tucking their tentacles in though. All parameters are in tact. I have two frags that look pretty good. So I dunno whats the deal with the btas

Cool that is good. Yeah in this hobby, you have to be patient and wait. I've read that btas do good in aquariums that have good, random flow and also that if you get bta clones from other reefers, they are more hardier and stay alive for years. Happy reefing! :)
