If you move sand, rock, all the water and just add some to make up the difference you shouldn't have a cycle. Use some dr.tims just to help out with the nitrates you'll release by stirring up all your sand.

I think you should be fine. I wouldn't add anything new until your 35 is up and running a bit. \. Just make sure to keep as much of the water as possible for the switch. I recently did the same thing and had no problems. Make sure your testing every day for the first little bit.

Is there any way you can go bigger? My only suggestion would be to go bigger than a 6g display upgrade. You will be happier and it will prolong another upgrade haha

if u use the same sand ur tank will cycle again, it will release all the nasty stuff burried below ur sand!! i upgraded 3 months ago n went with new sand instead, think its a better option. if u use the same sand ur going to need to wash it

I concur with kam, 6g upgrade is is not going to make an impact. 50g-70g would do u justice for about a year. I would transfer everything except for the sand. When your draining the old tank try not to stir the sand to much and leave bout 2" of water.

I went from a 22 gallon to a 70. Used same rock and some new rock. Used brand new sand. Dr Tim's and everything was fine.

Yea but going from All in one set up to a sump system I'd be getting 26 gallons in water volume 6 inches front to back & 10 inches right to left to my display that's a pretty good amount of real estate. Remember the way am Aio is set the whole back part of the was just for filtration. Plus I live in an apartment & don't want any crap if you get my meaning. I think a 50 gallon cube would get some unwanted attention
