According to Aqua Ultraviolet they dont recommend it. It will wear the bulb out much faster. It will outweight the costs of saving energy than replace a premature worn out bulb

I run mine 24/7 on every system!!!! I usually plumb the U.V. to feed the Refugium, so it gets clean water as to keep a nice healthy breeding environment. Or if no fuge, I plumb it in a bypass on the return pump to control flow through UV. The UV requires slow flow to kill parasites and the fuge doesnt need tones of flow either so a win/win. No aiptasia farm in the fuge, etc... :peace:

i run mine for 4 hrs a night on my system.. its a 15 watt on about 300 gals.. only because i have a goldrim that seems to be ick prone and it acts as a mild heater also ...

I run a 57w UV on my 220 24/7, I was battling a huge ick outbreak and I just decided to get a UV to try out and not only did it clear up my water but it helped me get the ick under control. Just remember to get the correct watts for your want, a 7w light isn't going to help a 300g system.
