Just a question about UV sterilizers and it may just come down to personal preference. How does everyone plumb these into the system? Are they just plumbed into the return line from the sump? Or are they on their own closed loop with a separate pump?

Depends on what you need it for, but I needed it for Dinos so I did closed loop in tank.

I will be using for Dinos. So your closed loop was pulling and returning directly to the tank? I also have dinos starting to bloom in the fuge. So I was thinking running it on the return line. I may just run a closed loop in the tank and shut the lights off in the fuge for a few days.

According to BRS to run it with the most efficiently is to do a closed loop from the return line. I didn’t have the space under the stand so I just tapped into my manifold and have the output line exiting into the sump.

If you are on Facebook join this group for help with fighting Dinos. Mack's reef...Dinoflagellates support group! .

Not all dinos are beat with UV so before you go spending money be sure to identify which type of dinos you have for the best solution. Dinos suck and sometimes it takes months on end to finally win the battle.

Thanks for the advice I just joined the group and started reading. 20 minutes in and already have better knowledge than I have been able to get by scouring the anecdotes on the forums. I just went on amazon and bought a "used/like new" 1200x microscope with my store card points...LOL. Im gonna beat this thing.

Glad it was helpful. They are the best source for beating dinos. Its a page you dont want to be a part of but we all end up there sooner or later lol. Took me close to 6-8 months to finally beat dinos in my system.
