Water Circulation

I have a 180 gallon mix reef tank. I want use Koralia Powerheads for circulating the water. witch ones should i get and how many should use? :conf44:

i like the vortechs my self, make for a much cleaner look inside the tank, IMO

you say mixed reef? primarily SPS or LPS and soft coral?
I have mix reef setups and my big tank circulates 33 time per hour (9000 gph 4 powerheads), my small tank circulates 26 times per hour (1300 gph one powerhead). that's not counting return pumps from my sumps.
I would recommend 20 plus.
So you need enough power heads to equal 3600 gph minimum.
then you need to think of setup. how do you want the flow in your tank. location of your overflow is a playing factor.

I was thinking to get 4 Koralia Evolution Pumps 1050 or 4
SEIO Super Flow Pump M1500 1,500 I like the Seio because they rotate

i would do a closed loop with a rio HF32 and a 1" SCWD...

I have a closed loop hook up with a Mag 950 with 1' SCWD and to of those cheap SunSun powerheads

those double sun sun power heads are pretty good... i have some laying around... just that they are way too strong for my 90g...

nah, i rather keep them to be honest... LOL... even though i don't use them, i rather not get rid of them...

get them on ebay... actually, the single powerhead one is stronger than the double one... it reaches farther...


do you have those double sun sun pumps...? two of those would be more than enough for a 180g... i was joking about the MP60's...

i wouldnt get those sorry gumbii because they use the suction cups and they tend to move around. you should get the models with the magnets:
but man these powerheads do give a lot of flow
