What does your aquascape look like? I think 3 mp40s would work but once the tank matures, you'll need more flow

From my experience with mp40's and your tank being 96'' you r better of with tunze's. Mp's have broader flow and do not push water that far 2'-3' maybe. hth

My Tank Build

I plan on having every thing SPS, LPS, Zoas lots of fish. if you do the math 3 mp40 should be equal to 2 mp60 or am I wrong?
U have u ever owned a mp60. Dude they are stupid powerful. In my mind a 40 is not even half the power of a 60. I had two 40's on each side of my 180 at one point. I then traded 2 of the 40's for one 60. The one 60 was on one side of the tank and 40's where on the other. The 60 would mosh the 40's in to hell. Now for my 300 I've got 2 60's on one side and am planning on getting 2 more 60's for the other side
