Hello fellow reefers,

Good news is I sold my Murrieta home and moved my Red Sea Reefer S 1000 to my mother‘s house with the help of @Emac909 and @happyreefer. Thanks again guys!

Bad news is while my fish were in the 100 gallon pond holding tank, while the set up cycled and cleared, I lost more than half my fish including an Achilles tang, Gem Tang, Powder blue tang, Borbonius anthias, Lyretail anthias, Clownfish, Pintail wrasse, Filefish, and almost all of my corals. I think one of the BTAs died and Killed off the fish, but I am not sure exactly what happened in those 24 hours .

I was devastated and considered getting out of the hobby. I’m going to be renting in Big Bear for at least a year so I will leave my S 1000 at my mother’s house to enjoy and possibly keep because I don’t wanna move it again.

I realized that I can’t go a year without a tank since I’ve been doing this for over a decade and it is a part of my life, so I ordered a water box 90.3 EX to fill the void. I’m excited to have something more manageable and hopefully turn into a nice reef since it is not such a huge undertaking.

I plan on documenting the build once the setup comes, can’t wait!

Here are some of the parts I decided to start with.

First, congrats on the home sale.

Sorry about the losses on the fish/corals.

LOL, I see you putting that cash into good use. Looking forward to the new build.

Thanks. Yeah a new snowboard and a tank for me , the rest of the proceeds goes on debt lol.

Dont tell my wife , she thinks it’s a “small” cheap setup. Should have blacked out the price, lol.

Look at the smirk on David, LOL:)

I was wondering how everything was going, thanks for the update. Glad you hung in there, however, damn you dropped some serious dough on that new tank of yours, heck yeah! Really bummed out to hear about the fish (you lost a lot of nice fishes) and corals though, that must have been rough:cry: I have some stuff for you if need be. Just let me know when you're ready!

Thanks bud , really appreciate it! Yeah it broke my heart . I will rebuild this setup better than before to help fill that reef emptiness from loosing the fish.

Anytime! It's definitely going to be a whole lot of fun setting up an all new set up, absolutely for sure(y) The next chapter of your story remains to be unwritten, you are quite possibly the perfect reefer in terms of confirmation, pedigree, and talent. For the "Justkeepswimming" reefer, the best is yet to come:) LOL, have a great night brotha!

I would move the drain elbows higher, and move the return piping lower. You should be able to run the return piping under the drain elbows so they don't interfere with each other.

The problem is this is all pre glued piping from the manufacturer. I wonder if I put a wrong union together somewhere or something. The directions that come from this company are terrible.

It looks better now but its like the sump needs to be lower or something…

Just clicked on your thread dude. Sorry to hear about the loss of all your fish. Such a bummer. I'll be following along with this new build.

Are you nervous at all introducing a Mandarin into the new system?

Yeah I am going to dose copepods for the mandarin. He came in super skinny and messed up fins so I dont think he will survive .
