I got a couple of text messages about my old tank for sale this morning and I figured I would post it here for everyone else to see and decide for themselves.

I sold my complete 10g Nuvo here about 2-3 weeks ago to @weelo111. It was listed for $200 and sold for $175 because it was going to be donated to a school. I even threw in dry rock and sand help with the set up. Everything was tested and worked before the sale.

Well… now it is for sale for double the purchase price.

Please see pictures below of the pm, text messages and FB marketplace ad.

I am not upset. It is just lame he used a school donation as a negotiation tactic.

I love our small community of reefers and feel it is important to be as transparent as possible to protect it.

Yea was suppose to be donated to school - teachers and I discussed, but got shut down from administation. The light that came with it was broken which I should have checked. Teachers bought the identical same light out of their own pocket to replace since I bought the tank. They paid $180 for a brand new light (check the FB listing). If I was flipping wouldn't I be making money $175 for the tank and $180 for the light - just asking what we paid for it acutally less and time spent on it.

Would have been easier to contact me or even better read the FB listing.

Hey @weelo111, my interactions with you in the past have been positive, so it was weird to see this listing only on FB. A friend shared the post with me and thought it was weird and the red flags went up. Maybe we're being too protective, but with all of the crap we see on FB, it's not out of the realm of possibilities. I was just trying to protect a friend and apologize for not reaching out first.
If they bought the light from amazon, then they should just return it.

@weelo111. I tested everything before listing it for sale. I even offered to plug it in for you. That’s why I set it up right next to the outlet by the garage. If the light was broke, why didn’t you just text me? I would literally have given you another one. I have sold and given away plenty of things on this site. Never an issue.

Picture of the tank before breaking it down for reference.

Also… full transparency. @weelo111 just texted me.

I don’t like when people say I sold them something broken.

I will leave it up for all of you to decide.

Thanks!

We’ll let the community decide. Not gonna go back and forth. I’ve had many interactions with a bunch of reefers on here.

I've had nothing but good experiences with @weelo111 and will continue to do so. I'm sure there is an honest explanation for all of this that is just lost somewhere.

I am happy to vouch for him that he isn't out to scam anyone. Goodness knows he keeps giving me montis that I keep killing (Accidentally! I feel so bad about each one!).

I hope this can reach a peaceful resolution. Sounds like we have two great reefers and just an unfortunate misunderstanding.

I think that “scam” is a harsh word in this context - that is, both seller & buyer mutually agreed on the purchase price. Not vouching for anyone here but it’s just free enterprises right? For example, if someone can buy my “product” and refreshed/remarketed for a bigger “profit”, go for it! I’m sure there is a time & resource commitment involved, esp dealing with an aquarium. I agreed and got the price I wanted originally so I’m happy.

I think that if the “perceived” trust is broken, one should reconsider doing business with that entity (company / person) in the future. (Not bringing politics into this)

Happy reefing everyone!
