Anyone here use well water?
Trying to decide if I can use it as is, or if I need carbon/DI resin...

Groundwater? Honestly we've dumped so much crap in the earth that I doubt water from a well would be clean enough. Most recommend 0 TDS in the water and even if the water were pristine for drinking it would still contain more than you'd want. Just my 2 cents.

Most well water in Southern California is toxic to consume. Just imagine it in your reef. Nitrates, heavy metals, all the nasty stuff people dump on the ground eventually makes its way into the water table.

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot, it NEEDS to be run through a RO/DI system.

Yucaipa's water is around 85% well water. I would not recommend using well water. I run a 6 stage ro/di filter. My TDS is at 185 going in the unit and 02 coming out of the ro and 0 after the di. But even with a TDS of 0 the phosphates are at 0.16 in my di water.

We have a ton of people on well water up here. Our well water is some of the best around and is highly rated on a yearly basis. I'm not on well but I know a ton of people that are. It has a higher mineral count so not good for the tank and would still need to be run through a good rodi unit. Its great to drink though
