Welcome to 2022!

I've been down sick for a few weeks and not able to do deliveries as expected, but we're back up and running! We are going to be doing the weekly runs to the wholesalers again and starting the QT service again. I want to introduce the new project manager of the entire operation, Heidi. She will be in charge of the entire operation. She is learning fast and is extremly originized. A traite I lacked.

I will still be here and operating behind the scenes and you will still see me out on delivery runs every once in a while.

Heidi will be using this forum user along with me to get your questions answered and will be at your service. We look forward to building an awsome experience for all you reefers!

Hello, I'm Heidi as Erick said, I am trying to learn about salt water and reef tanks. It's very exciting and interesting. There is so much to learn, I have made some mistakes but it is nice having someone "Erick" to run to who can tell me how to fix it before its too late. I have had tropical fish since I was in high school. There is no comparison, they are as different as night and day. I do enjoy the salt water tanks and fish more than the fresh water. Salt water is a constant adventure. The reef tanks and fish are so beautiful. I'm going to end up with 3 or 4 tanks myself just so I can have all my favorites. (it's not a short list):)

I love to keep my mind busy learning new things, I tend to get bored with the repetitive. I think I can safely say that I have finally found something that I love to do and will never get bored with, there is always something new to learn.

I have been redoing/ redesigning our quarantine tanks over the last couple months and have expanded it also. I can happily say that by the end of the week I will have them all up and running and waiting for the new residents to arrive. I have learned the different needs of different breeds. I think the most shocking info I learned almost immediately is that most salt water fish are not captive bred that they come from the ocean most times. previously being a fresh water fish person I just assumed that like fresh water fish almost all of them where captive bred. With that being said I have added a project to the many others I have around here I am going to learn everything I can about a few of my favorite salt water fish and might try and breed 1 or 2. When I do I will let you all know how that turns out.

I look forward to working with you all, and building a great experience for all of us.

Have a great day! Heidi

Hello Heidi. Sounds very exciting. Got a pic of the expanded operations? And do you have details of what QT entails? QT is such a vague process because everyone seem to do it differently and different chemicals/duration for various fishes.

I'm going to help Heidi out because i have the file. Here is our basic QT protocol:

Quarantine-Calendar-Modified-1536x1126.jpg

There are fish that are copper sensitive, so in those cases we modify the protocol to reduce the copper level or we treat differently and observe for a longer period of time. We, of course can't publish a protocol for every variant of fish requirement that exists, but this is the basic protocol we have developed.

Welcome Hedi.
Erick and Hedi you should have different forum names so we know who we're talking to as you both obviously have different levels of experience.
