I know this method does reduce nitrates but would using this type of invert or coral be as efficient as macro algae (fuge)? mainly space being the factor.

I was planning on adding a clam fuge to my current tank but instead opted to get a much bigger tank. I still left plenty of sand space for clams though. I still plan on trying to put as many clams as I can fit in there. I've got four right now from 3" to 9" and will be adding more once that tank stabilizes. It won't necessarily be a fuge since they're in the DT but the idea is still for them to add to my filtration.
