I use bayer for everything except clams. After I frag any LPS or Zoas, I let them sit I water with iodine (not sure of the amount, I just add enough so you can't see into the water) with great results. I also don't measure the bayer, I add enough so you can't see the coral, looks like milk.

I use Coral RX pro, 30 drops to a gallon. I tried Bayer and while it does work I like the liquid clear so I can see if anything is coming off the coral. I also cut the frag plugs off and putty up the base so I do not introduce any pest algae to my tank. In my last system I had some red turf algae that was imposible to get rid of. I do have a coral quarantine now and all SPS gets dipped 3 times every 5 days before I move to my display. I can say that Red Bugs did make it past my procedures, but my main focus is making sure no AEFW gets in my tank. I used Sentinel last Friday and this Friday and no signs of Red Bugs after first treatment did the second as a safety and to get new hatched eggs.

My first dip I put the coral in coral RX for 3 min then baste heavy to see if anything is coming off. I dip in a white bowl or bucket so it is easy to see anything that comes off coral. On more delicate corals like a Hawkins I only dip for 5 min total, but on anything that I do not know the history on I leave in for at least 10 minutes. I think cutting the base off and putting up the bottom to make sure no weird macro makes it into my new tank has really helped.

Also just because nothing comes off does not mean coral is clean, there can be eggs! This is another reason to cut the base off because the eggs tend to be on the coral base or frag plug.

When you mount the coral with putty I use a small drop of super glue gel and then put a small ball of putty that molds into the base and tapers down to frag plug. I put a drop on frag plug as well. I have found some benifits to doing it this way. It gives the coral a solid base to start growing from and this base is solid not brittle like super glue. The coral encrusts much quicker over 2 part epoxy putty than superglue. Algae does not grow quickly on the putty so the coral has time to encrust before it has some weird algae competing against. I do grow the tiny frags a bit in my frag tank that is hooked to the main display, and when they are ready to mount the frag plug is easily separated from the putty with a pair of bone cutters.

I do use Lugols or Iodine and make the water colored when fragging LPS or Zoas, Everything though gets Coral RX before coming into my quarantine with the exception of clams. If you dip a calm it will most likely die, found that out the expensive way and my wife had picked it out at Macna, she still looks at me now and again with that you stupid @#%$ look and reminds me to not dip a clam. I hear you can fresh water dip them, but I have never tried that.

My vote is coral RX in a white bucket or dish.

Plus one on the coral rx! I think it's the best dip my corals never seem to get all bent out of shape after using it.
