I’m overwhelmed with work lately and the maintenance is stacking up. I’ve only done 1 water change since August. The only loss I’ve suffered was the mysterious death of a 2+ year old mandarin dragonet

my to-do-list for new years day.

1) find out and fix why my skimmer is making that awful noise so I can turn it back on
2) replace or fix 2 ea 6105 tunze
3) service/refill calcium reactor
4) fill/service Kalk reactor
5) fix/replace primary ATO float switch
6) water change
7) test ALK. CA, Po, No3, and Mg, send off an ICP

Crap, looking at that list, I’ve really fallen behind!

I recently lost 2 colonies of torches and some hammers due to BJD. Everything was fine and all of the sudden 1 head got BJD and it started to spread rapidly. I’m currently doing in tank cipro treatment and hopefully the remaining torches and hammers will survive.

On my main tank, I am battling GHA which I should clean off the rocks more often, I should also test the water and do more frequent water changes. Also, I probably should put a piece of it under a microscope to confirm that its is in fact GHA and not something else.

On my nano, I need to finish taking it all apart to prepare for a move to a new stand. Most of it has been cleaned up, but I have to undo all the wires for the controllers and various electrical parts and clean that corner of the room.

I need to reglue my rock scape. I broke it while trying to save some stupid chromis from a sailfin....now theyre best friends.

Also GHA is coming back after a hydrogen peroxide dose. I might dip all the rock in hydrogen peroxide when i fix the rock scape.

My parameters are stable across all my tanks. Things are growing and healthy. However, if you have to ask, I’ll NEED to do the following in 2024:

1. Extend the tank from 6x2x2 to 10x3x3
2. Let there light! More lights!
3. Need moooore flow!

Have a safe, fun, and prosperous New Year everyone!

Well, i fond the problem with my skimmer. The mesh mod fell apart. Before you LOL at my mesh-mod, and tell me “Y2K wants its reefing equipment back” you need to know that I still run metal halide and the skimmer? It’s a euroreef

That’s a good run though. I had MH + a chiller for 2 years and ain’t going back to that setup anytime soon. That said, I love the color/shimmer of MH - can’t beat it!

My Bubble Magnus Curve9 ran for 7yrs straight w/o any issues. I’ve just replaced the needle wheel so I think I’m good for at least another 7!

Ok, I’m skipping the WC, but need to trim some overgrown coral.
Got everything done yesterday except the 6105’s. Starting that now

Happy New year!

For me:
1) Change out the Carbon filters on the RODI.
2) 20% water change
3) Replace broken AFS with new fish food feeder and reprogram APEX

:ROFLMAO: Don’t forget your favorite thing to do. Clean that skimmer cup and neck. I needed a paint scraper to get the gunk off, it was foul. Now I know why people add that auto neck cleaner accessory. This was only 2 months…

LOL, this is what happens when you install a DIY skimmate locker. I don't feel the need to empty the cup, so then I get lazy and not touch the skimmer. Lazy reefers unite!
