So I'm setting up my new tank & one thing i would like to add before I set it up is light under my stand. How do you guys light up your sump? I have searched for led strips on ebay but seems like more of diy & I'm looking for something I can just slap on under my stand. Any suggestions are appreciated & preferably LED instead of other type of lighting. Thanks in advance.

Dual 24" T5. Grows Chaeto and algae like crazy! Which is good because you'd rather it be in the sump instead of display.

I was just going to outline the inside of my stand with them... lol. I use similar type of light strips for my Christmas light show so I am familiar with them.

If you don't want those just go to home depot/lowes and find a fixture that you like.

maybe something like this
http://www.amazon.com/RiteLite-LPL7...=1427840800&sr=8-3&keywords=under+shelf+light

or

http://www.amazon.com/Ledu-L9011-Lo...1427840800&sr=8-10&keywords=under+shelf+light

That first link is nice except its battery operated.

Since u are familiar with the led strips are they easy cut & connect? I was thinking of cutting two 18" strips just wiring them together to the same dc power supply.

Might just outline everything & see how it looks lol ebay has them for 8$

Most of them can be cut every 3 leds... so you can make it pretty close to whatever length you need.
Step 6 of this: http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Definitive-Guide-to-LED-Accent-Lighting/?ALLSTEPS

Also you can do a google search for 'cutting 5050 led strip' and there are videos and stuff

I always used t5 tubes, but i just picked up aome xenon pucks from home depot for cheap. 3 pucks do a decent job in my 60" wide cabinet

The only drawback to the these is the cords. Each puck has a cord that plugs into a 3way extension cord. It does come with cable mounting hardware. Other than that, i like em

Here's one

Here's the light from all 3

Here's my t5 tube in a smaller cabinet for comparison. I guess the xenons are probably lower wattage but i like having ability to spread the 3 in this larger cabinet (60" bs 48")
