I took wall hooks and screwed them into the wood on my cabinet ceiling and hung a ebay full spectrum LED light ($80) from the hooks using key rings.

Just use short hooks. They are small. I have all kinds of thing screwed into the wood no problem. Its not heavy so its not going to effect anything.
