So im setting up a new 14 gallon cube. Its gonna be a mini reef with coral from my 40gallon. This smaller tank is in my living room so I want it to be a nice display because my 40gallon is in my kids bedroom so nobody really can see it, including myself. What fish can I put in it? Its filtration is a refugium, miracle mud, and ceramic bio balls.

firefish can/will jump, so make sure you have a lid if you get those.

i guess for that matter, any fish can jump. i was surprised by my filefish jumping a good 4" above the water..

Maybe a small blenny like a tailspot or a bicolor. There's also green and yellow clown gobies that are perfect for nano tanks.

Fire fish sound cool, I dont have a lid though. They shouldnt get startled to jump because I wont have any other fish in there.
They'll jump, only a matter of when.

14 gallons doesn't give you many options to be honest. Even clowns are recommended to be in a larger tank. I think if you went with occellaris or perculas you'd be alright, just no maroons or larger varieties like clarkis or saddlebacks.

Maybe a goby? Like a yellow watchman? They seem happy with a small space as long as you have some rock for a burrow.

Glass Cardinals are nice as well and don't need a ton of room.

So if I go with a goby what kind of food do you feed? I dont feed my fish live food, just flakes and pellets. I dont want a needy fish that I have to buy different food for, my wife is the one that feeds them.

A pair of nice clowns and either a Royal Gramma, Jawfish, or Midas Blenny. Or if you're like me, all 5. I've got a pair of Clowns, a pair of Madarins, an Orchid Dottyback, and a Black Blenny in a 15 gal. I just do 4 gallon water changes every week and keep Chemipure Elite in the filter.

I say a Naso tang and a trigger. Lol. Kidding.
Yasha goby is cool. So is Helfrichi firefish. Not cheapest fish but both are very nice, peaceful and easy to care for.

Clowns sound good but I think the nem would be too big for that tank. I want to use the tank to show off nice coral pieces also.
Get a small nem and don't feed it just with the light and clownfish poop and and whatever the clownfish eat.
