I noticed a couple days ago that my mandarin has a white pimple-like ball growing on it's face/nose. I tried taking pictures but they're not great cause it's a crappy cell phone camera & the mandarin is camera shy. I'll post the best of what I got...

Ok so I'm looking at the pics I posted & I realize you can't tell much from them. The white thing is like a cyst/pimple. Very round & smooth, & very white. Maybe half the size of it's mouth.
Only thing I could think of is lymphocystis but it is definitely not like lymph.
Anybody have an idea what it could be?
Al?

I'm leaning towards Al's response
Damnit I told him to stay away from those slutty fish in Al's tank!

Might be a bit of a wound from bumping into a rock?
Doesn't look like a wound or healing wound, but that's a better guess than ich or something. It's actually very white & very round & smooth & sticks out quite a bit. Looks like a huge pimple or small external cyst of some sort & I think I noticed it on Friday morning. Hadn't changed much but maybe has gotten a little smaller than it was

Seriously its probably just a cyst. Maybe a superficial infection? It's hard to tell with just pictures...keep an eye on it and keep us posted!
Yeah I need Al the fish man to book it on over here to sucka yucca & check it out, lol!

To me it doesn't look like an infection, but what do I know! Maybe a cyst... If it were a cyst, what causes something like that & will it go away?
Thanks Al!

Nope definitely not lymph but thanks for trying. I had a korean angelfish with lymph & researched it thoroughly at the time. This doesn't look like I could pluck it off. Looks more like a white mole. I was looking at the fish head on tonight & the way it sticks out & where it is on his face, it totally looks like a cindy crawford mole, lol!

The bump is still there but barely & it's not white anymore. Nothing noticeable if I wasn't REALLY looking. Whatever it is, glad it's getting better & not worse!

Update: Mandarin's bump is gone! Would've liked to know what it was or what caused it, but I'm very glad he's all better! :D

There are countless causes for cysts. A scratch, a misformed scale, a foreign body, etc. They're temporary and will pass if the fish is otherwise healthy. I'm glad it went away. Now, if it comes back you know what to expect...
