I have a 125 gallon tank? what size uv sterilizer should I use? Also would a Coralife 12x 36 watt unit be overkill? I have heard that you can over do it with UV killing off needed bacteria...please advise.

Thank you kindly

18 watt for 100g and 25 watt for 150g. I would calculate net water volume so that you get the actual gallons being sterlized. Flow rate also plays a role in the correct wattage. I have no personal experience to confirm but all the research I have done says that oversized sterlizers will kill good bacteria. If you plan on running ZeoVit or any other bacteria proliferation system, sterlizers are not recommended. I had sterlizers on my smaller tanks but no longer use them when I transitioned to my 65g. My water is clear, no green algae, and never any fish related parasites. Other opinions may differ but I would save your money or invest in another piece of equipment. I still have a 15 watt in the box I never used....

I wouldn't say ZeoVit is better, it's a personal preference and depends on many factors. For me, ZeoVit media didn't work well with my feeding schedule. I tend to overfeed and I couldn't get my phosphates in line. I switched to EcoBak biopellets and got better results. I added GFO and got my phosphates to near zero. I also run granulated carbon. I still use ZeoVit supplements which I like. I just didn't see that UV helped or hindered my water quality and fish health.
