I use both salifert and api for nitrates. I have recently been told that Red Sea pro is best for low nitrates. I use Hanna ulr for po4 and sometimes double check with Red Sea phosphate test kit.

Just got the idip tester. But it's lower limit for nitrate is 15 ppm and it is hopefully being worked on so by the end of the year, it will give a much lower nitrate limit.

I have the PO4 Hanna checker but never really knew how accurate it was and I've tried the salifert NO3 but never got a result so I don't know if it's the test kit or the user (lol..)

So I ended up ordering the Red Sea Algae control kit. I'll keep the thread up to day when I received the kit.

I have a Hanna checker for po4 but it always reads 0. I'm going to try out getting my numbers close to the redfield radio but need an accurate test.

I use the large Hanna HI 93713 meter to check P04 and Salifert on N03, I have found that either of these do not do well when regents are expired.

yeah make sure my tap water is clear of po4 it better for the skin.

So I got the Red Sea Algae management kit yesterday and it's pretty neat little kit.
Pros:
-Nice sturdy case
-2 vials so that you can see the color changes a lot easier
-instructions are straight forward

Cons:
- Takes 9 minutes to do the NO3 test
- Takes 6 minutes to do the PO4 test.

Same as my hanna. 0. I'm assuming the algae is consuming the po4 before the test kit can read it

no, my nitrate. I'm running biopellets so I'm 99% sure that my nitrate reading are correct(which is 0). And the reason I know I have PO4 in the tank is because I have patches of cyano ( [MENTION=654]lowbudget[/MENTION] , yes I have cyano). lol..

You can use seachem flourish nitrogen to help raise/dose nitrates. A lot of people dose this on ulns. I will be picking some up soon; having a little trouble with my sps system.

There's also a good thread on r2r about using spectricide potassium nitrate (stump remover) to dose nitrates on a larger scale. Pretty interesting.
