My display is 100g and currently has 2 fairy wrasses - 1 rhomboid male and 1 red velvet male (I believe). They both flash in the evening at their own reflection but could care less about one another. I'm thinking about adding 2 more wrasses to the tank. Both will be put through QT and fully acllimated to foods. They'll also do their time in the acclimation box to feel out the reaction. I regret selling my leopard and melenarus wrasse' and was thinking about giving those another go. I have heard the melenarus can take out a cuc when they get larger though. I'd love to try a pin tail type wrasse but I'm not sure about their demeanor.

I also plan to add a type of dwarf angel and one or two neon gobies.

My 40g qt is cycled and I plan to QT most of them at the same time, looks like I'll be working in town the next month or so.

Current fish list is:
Kole yellow eye tang
midas blenny
pair of black percs
rhomboid male
velvet male
fire fish
glass spot cardinal
red masked goby
geometric percher/hawkfish

If you're looking to increase flashing by the fairy wrasses you already have, you'll want to be sure you add more of the Cirrhilabrus genus. Some of the ones I really like are the C. johnsoni (Johnson's fairy wrasse), C. lineatus (lineatus fairy wrasse), jordani (flame fairy wrasse), and C. earlei (Earl's fairy wrasse). Some others that I like (but aren't as pricey as the ones I mentioned before) are C. rubriventralis (longfin fairy wrasse) and C. aurantidorsalis (orange-back fairy wrasse).

There's a really great article on wrasses that I'd like to link to, but it's on another forum, and I'm not certain if that is allowed (sorry. I'm a noob here.:D).

I picked up a Katherine's from SeaSide a couple weeks ago. He's really fun to watch, flashes at some of the other Fairy's but in general he's different looking than my others...very dark, bold pattern.

Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone. I'll probably swing by seaside today and see if they have any nice wrasse in. Katherine's and orange back look pretty **** cool!

What about a chaoti wrasse? I know they are tough to acclimate but how about after that?

Just depends how much time you want to put into it and how much you want to spend. The Katherine's I got from SS was 45 and it ate pellets the first day. Chaoti are cool but expensive and harder to get to eat.

Wrasses are pretty cool and there have been great suggestions. To add to your list, I think blue star female leopard wrasses are awesome. I have a melanarus that I've had for years and when they finally reach full maturity, they are stunning. Melanarus are ok as youngsters but spectacular when older. Choose carefully cause it's no fun to max out on fish and then really want just one more. It's that just one more that always seems to lead to a calamity.

Thanks for the heads up on the orange back fairy. I'll be passing on that one.

I hear you on that Mark. I've been going back and forth on whether to continue stocking my tank or just leave it be. Everyone's getting along so well its tempting to add another, but i'd hate to trigger a territory issue on the other hand.

I like BeanMachine suggestion. I always like the Orange Back wrasse and currently have one now. All the one's I've had have been played well with other fairy wrasses.
What about a Labouti?
