I have a small fruit loop frag with about 3 polyps. For some reason they don't want to fully open which I think is weird because my other colony of zoanthids are doing phenamonal .I get my water tested by a buddy and said everything was good . Any one have and ideas what's wrong .oh I've had these in my tank for about 2 months lighting is 4 T5's and 1 250w metal halide .halide is only running 3 hours a day and its a 60 gallon tank . image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

move them to other location. little more light.
I was thinking maybe it was too much light since they aren't fully opened ??? But when I moved them to more light I had same issue ...now they are far from halide and in a not so bright area :/

Were they fully open before? I have a frag of some orange rainbow somethin-or-others that took over 2 months before they decided to open. Is it just today? Maybe a fish inadvertently aggravated it

No sure exactly what they are but I get my water tested by pacific reef ( the store I get my water from ) once a week when I purchase water and they always have said everything looked good :)

Have you checked for pests? I would take the frag out and dip it in the Bayer insecticide dip and see if anything comes off. It could be zoa eating nudibranchs irritating them that are on that colony but not on your other zoas.
You can also dip zoas in hydrogen peroxide and it can help when they won't open

Are they checking your mag and alk every week? Zoas definitely can be tempermental. I've got 2 frags of the same zoa that came from the same tank. They are at the same height, same flow and light, about 10" apart and only one wants to open? But you should definitely make sure to check your mag and alk

My alk was a little high about 2weeks ago but I've done a few water changes since then and stopped using kalkwasser so I'm sure it's a lot better now ....
