Is there a place buy dowflake and mag flake in oc? I know we don't get any snow so might be had to find locally.
I recently went looking and could not find anything. What I did do instead was by a 25lb bucket of Water Hardness (I think this is the name but can't confir tell I get homee as their website is having issues) which is Calcium Chloride from Leslies Pool Supply.

Thanks. Found another reference for the LESLIE pool supply product. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784584
Sounds like a good alternative. Are they pellets? How do you prepare them and what dosage/recipie are you using? I was using an online calculator for dosing liquid CA. I wonder if this one is equivalent to the Dow flakes amount?

This is equivalent to DOW Flakes but you need to use 20% less of it as its more concentrated. As far as the recipe goes I am following Randy Holmes-Farley's 2 Part recipe. I have been dosing this for over a month now with no side effects other then my corals keep growing and using more and more.

You tried to find an alternative for dow flakes and found Water hardness? But that's for calcium chloride right? Dow flakes is for Mg from what I've read.

I've been trying to look for mag flake in OC but no go.

Ive found anhydrous calcium chloride at a nice price at 10 dollars a bucket in OC. Instead of 2.5 cups of calcium chloride, we can use 2 cups of it since anhydrous is more concentrated.

Just need mag flake :(
