I have had this guy for a month now, and have never seen this. I am fairly new to the hobby so any suggestions please.

Is there something wrong with it?

My water parameters are

PH - 8.3
Alk - 6
Anmonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20 ( i know that is high, I am working on getting it down)
Mg - 1250
Ca - 420
Phosphates - 0
Salinity - 1.026

The flow is not directly on it, I have been watching it and its starting to come back, I wonder if my coral beauty is picking at it?

Just keep an eye on it. Corals often extend and retract for no apparent reason. I had a toadstool retract for about 6 weeks. I was going to take it out and throw it away but it finally opened and was fine. If it starts to stay that way you may want to try moving it somewhere else more or less light, more or less flow, sometimes it takes a while to find a spot where everything does good.

I noticed in my tank when the alk is below 8 and salinity is over 1.026, my corals are not happy. If I increase the alk to 10-11 and lower my salinity to 1.024-1.025, keeping Ph the same at around 8.2-8.3, the corals are doing much better.

I think alk at 6 is too low.
