Just had my first fish die, my Tanaka was found dead this morning. He was fine for about 5-6 days then got super secretive for about 36 hours and then died. I didn't see evidence of parasites on this guy, but it's a strong possibility.

I don't like being unable to have a QT, but I just don't have the room.

I don't have qt, none of my fish have been either. They all go straight to the display lol it's always hit or miss with fish from my point of view, they may look happy in the fish shop when you get them but doesn't necessarily mean they'll like your tank

I would suggest at the very least, a formalin dip if you're not going to QT. It doesn't catch everything but its definitely better than nothing.

I never qtd and lost large amounts of fish. I did a full qt and fallow period. Copper, prazipro and an observation period. After adding some more snails and crabs I now see the occasional spots on my midas blenny. This has me somewhat torn on my QT procedures now. I'll still qt in the future, just not sure if I'll be putting the fish through copper. It may just be an 8 week observation period with prazipro treatments on the front and back.

I've lost 2 possum wrasse and a Tanaka. They don't need a parasite to die, just a light bullying is enough to shut them down in my experience. Easily stressed fish. My firat possum was the lone fish in my 8g and thrived until my upgrade months later and the addition of a pair of clowns. Hid, stopped eating and passed.

Yea seems to be the situation with possum wrasses. I quarantined mine for 8 weeks, made sure it was eating well, but got punked by my clown fish and kicked the bucket.

I used to QT, but then it became too difficult to manage three tanks. I now only buy fish from Diver's Den and I hadn't had a problem since. Not ideal, but the source is something to consider.
