Hi Everyone,
I know a lot of you are shocked, excited, bitter, mad, happy, confused, about what is going on with this site. First I would like to apologize about all the unorganized and random downtime on this site. I am going to take a few mins here to address a few questions that have arise since the big change.
Did SoCaliReefs go bye bye?
No, SoCaliReefs only existed because of each and everyone of you. So as long as all our SCR members are active, SoCaliReefs still exist. The primary target of this site is still for So Cal locals!
Why did I change the domain name?
I changed the domain name because I wanted a more generalized name for this site in order to attract a larger audience. SCR was great, but it seemed to have plateaued. There was just a lot of buying and selling going on and not a lot of reef talk. Even though there is nothing wrong with that, I wanted to diversify this site by generating a site where you guys come to to not only buy, sell, trade, but to increase your knowledge and learn more about the hobby. I hope to have articles, reviews, etc so there is more content on this site for you guys.
How will the new site affect us?
Hopefully we will continue to grow and traffic increases. More members, more knowledge to pass around. With increased traffic, there will be more giveaways, better prizes, a faster site, and more publicity for reefers of SO CAL.

I know a lot of you do not like change, but hopefully this new site is user friendly and you can adapt fast. I am here for you guys and I will listen to everything you guys have to say. I know I only answered a few questions briefly and you guys deserve more explanation but I will add to this as more questions arises. With this said lets show the world what SCR is all about.:thrasher:

Changes!!!

Hi Mike,

Appreciate the announcement... :) I am not sure if you are looking for feed back, but I can tell you that the I like the changes so far. I think it makes the viewing of the web pages much easier, and the presentation of the various forums is really nice. I love the new ReefDiscussion logo... The colors tell the story about the reefs, and the features are much easier to access.
Great job!!! Again thanks for keeping this site active for all of us to share information and knowledge.

BTW... could you increase the casino dollars? I kept loosing my shirt on your blackjack (lol) Just kidding... :)

Thank you appreciate the compliments everyone. But thats definitely the last thing I want here is for people to go else where. I will try to accommodate with as many members as possible to ensure everyone if not most of you are happy. So keep the opinions coming, I am listening.:elefant:

The name of any organization is the first portal of exposure to the general public and hence MUST convey an accurate and descriptive message as to contents within. First impressions are everything in the business world, most notably given fickle customers who are not only increasingly impatient but also empowered with many choices. The name "SoCaliReefs" while witty, familiar, and easy to pronounce unfortunately had branded the website to a particular geographical location, thus severly limiting its expansion and growth possibilities. Yes, we as locals are of course the "life blood" of this community, however every organization must be allowed to grow and prosper lest it stagnate and eventually migrate into the vast pergatory of other internet sites that WISHED for change but failed to execute.

Be thankful that this forum is led by someone who not only cares about the organization, is business savy enough to recognize when change is imminent and/or necessary, but most of all, actually has the BALLS to do something about it!

GOD SPEED, Mikey, you are doing everything right, thus far!
