Apex controller screen was frozen, time looked correct but my 2 channel t5 and LEDS were on. Apex fusion says it's connected but has no readings for amps ect. It's counting the clock correctly. When I try to turn things on/off it does not respond.

I unplugged the apex for a 10 count and replugged it in. Everything came on, all lights ect. After a few minutes it went back to the t5 2 channel on and LEDs. Now the display is blank but blue.

It's annoying but my main concern is it almost seems like everything is on. Co2 is flowing (normally off at night) I can't seen my heater lights but I'm concerned non of the probes are being read.

Has anyone experienced this before? I'm thinking of unplugging my display and resetting to rule that out. Would apex fusion still be able to control the unit without the display?

I killed power, unplugged the display and turned power back on. It rebooted and is now showing everything on Fusion. Amps, ect and appears to be back on track/schedule. Bad display.......or maybe port? I'll try that tomorrow.

Freaking tanks dude.

I use a table that is linked to the apex via the IP address. Even if fusion is disconnected and your apex is still connected to your router the IP address door way will still give you accurate reading of what’s going on in the apex.

The first question I have is which model apes are you running.
I had a similar problem 3 days before I left to Italy 4-5 years ago now. There were several things that went out at once. My display cable frayed and some and some water on it and shorted, my JBJ ATO shorted, the main brain went bad, and one of my EB8 shorted. My system went crazy. I can't say the screen was the culprit as everything aside from the screen was mounted inside the stand with consent spraying, and high humidity. So it might be a bad screen but I would say just double-check all the equipment.

Try to connect via local apex and see if there's a difference between fusion and the hardware?

That sounds bad what's Neptune say? Is your EB8 damaged or anything?

@Emac909 I never looked into a table via ip address interesting 👍

I'll have to look into this more. Might be the way to go as everything else appears to function fine so far. Just a bad display

I think it's considered the classic. I've had it for 6 years or so now. It's the black display, metal eb8s

Appears it was just the display locking up the whole unit. It's still connected and functioning via fusion. I dont see any spray, I have the AA sump with covers so there isn't much of that. I've got decent airflow down there. Looks clean so far.

I haven't contacted them. I'm way out of warranty. If it goes sideways again I'll send them a message. Right now I'm pretty confident it was caused by the display. I may try it on a different usb port to rule the port itself out.

By that you mean connect directly to the apex brain? I can operate outlets by fusion so I think it's functioning now.

Super easy guys. First go into fusion app and go to connection settings. There you will find the IP address

Now enter that IP address in the web browser on the tablet.

This will appear

You will then enter
admin for the user
1234 for the password
Once you have logged into the apex through this back door you then can change the password or if you have changed the password with your display then use that password.
Boom your in

You can also you the apex.local but I have a hard time using apex.local. It seems to take forever when uploading.

I’m referring to the classic dashboard where you connect directly (local) via the unit’s IP address. It’s the old non cloud based dashboard. This is how you used to have to change certain settings, add modules, season tables, etc

Wish I could help, but I know nothing about APEX. Will have to learn from someone. I’m collecting APEX stuff now and will hopefully get it figured out or have some expert show me. Good thing it didn’t brick. That would be expensive.

Just letting you know based on my experience. I ended up buying the Neptune base unit, reusing one of my EB8s,s and buying another used one. Personally, I like the old EB8 they aren't as bulky and still work, the only thing that they don't have is the link ports I just use the ones from the dos. Instead of using the display, you can always get a small table and some sort of mounting option cheaper than a new display.
