Would really love your feedback on the site

SCR has grown quite a bit since the beginning of the year. But my goal here is to really make SCR your premier top choice Local Reef forum. Im trying to figure out ways to make this forum a better place to be and really need your feedbacks. There's a lot of you guys that sign on but do not post much and even more lurkers. I would love to hear from you guys. If you do not feel comfortable posting on this thread, please pm me.

I will also take a poll to see how you utilize SCR

You should allow for more than one choice on your poll. I am fairly new to SCR but I utilize it to trade and sell, for information, and because the people are cool. Sometimes it is information overload because you may get conflicting ideas from people but overall I think it is a great site.

bur srsly... the only reason i'm here is to help out as many people as i can, and for my friends... i don't look at the for sale threads, or even at other member's tanks... don't care for it much really... if i want something for my tank, i'll hit the LFS first and give them my money... unless it's a "collectible" piece... and they dunt haz it...

Socalireef improvements

Good idea, polling the members iss always a good place to start when you want to assess the current status and identify areas for improvement.

I would agree with previous responses, the poll would be better if more than one option were available for us . My feelings are much the same as others, this site is good ffor information, cool people, trading/buying/selling. I also like that there is a bit of fun, non-reef related stuff.

I had an idea for the lurkers....creepers....etc. What if the powers that be...the ones who know how to do all that fabulous IT stuff...(like block members....LOL :yield set the mebership to require that you post at least every 60 or 90 days or so? If not, maybe you get an automatic ssystem generated message prompting activity, and if still no response your membership gets moved to guest mode....If they are not posting, thats all they need anyways. I would alsso ssuggest that it be set up in a way that allows them to rectify the reduction in membership (who knows what is going on, maybe they just havent had time, give them a chance....)

On that note, instead of instantly banning members when a faux paux occurs, what about some communication from the mods? Depending on the situation, of course...but a bit of communication can go a long way, and it also gives the ssite a friendly but professional feel. Sometimes people (ahem....ahem) just need a bit of education regarding boundaries.

Like most of the others that responded, I like to use this as a source of info, chat with other reefers about reef and non-reef related stuff, and also to check out who locally has some cool frags (since the LFS seem to just have the stuff I already have).

It's definitely a good sign that you've set up this poll... as far as improvements go, not sure what to add to be honest. I typically use 2 or three forums and have sticked MOSTLY with the one that I joined several years ago (just because I'm familiar with it). But that doesn't mean that I won't transition over to this or another forum the more I get used to the format.

Overall, I think this is a good forum with cool people that don't have a stick up "you know where", and that's a great start.
