Everything else aside, most SPS can do just great receiving PAR around 300. There are only a few species that require light upwards of 600. There is always this misconception that we need to blast SPS with radiation lol.
Jim, take a half me day. Treat yourself once in a while. Skip work after lunch and head down to the OC, check out the nice LFS down here, and then head to the meeting!
Yeah, no excuse! We got 3 guys who drive in form Cornado Island in San Diego monthly. Guys from Moreno Valley, Yuciapa, Rancho Cucumonga, Sylmar, and Running Springs all here every month. There is no excuse to miss this.
Well i know some people say give 10% to 20% more for LEDS I was reading. But ether way I'm way low not even close to the readings at even 300 by my sps. Most of them are at around 150 to 250. Acording to the meter.
So I lowered my lights by 2 inches and left the settings where they have been. Now I'll slowly raise the setting in the next month in a half or so. Hopefully I get closer to about 300 where my sps are at and 150 is on the sand.
I thik you'll be fine with those readings but you might end up with a tank similar to most where all the sps are top shelf. I think optics play a huge part, I saw drastic reading differences when I put lenses on my LEDs in my frag tank. My display has about 98 3w Crees with 60 degree optics and 4t5s. I'm getting about 550 par at the water and 220 par on the sand.

J/k
Believe me if I could swing it I'd be there. I just dont have the time, with work, a 3 year old that cant sit still for 2 minutes, 78 year old mother in law living with us thats legally blind and cant walk much, and all the other crap im lucky to get an hour to myself once a week. It really bums me out. Ive been to 1 of the sfvr meetings and had a great time, I want to check out some of the others but its just not possible right now.
If there's someone reliable that wouldn't break my goPro I would love to let someone use it to film the presentation. I can then edit it afterwards and out it on YouTube.
I just added some T5's to my LEDs. I bought a retrofit kit from reefgeek and did a little DIY. Came out really nice. I was able to raise my par 100-150 instantly with just 2 bulbs. I am running a blue+ and purple+.
