Hey everyone - starting to populate my 50 gallon cube that has been running with only a single fish for the last year. Growth is great, but it's a bit boring without movement. I don't like pet stores all that much, and I hate some of the collecting/import practices that fish go through, as well as the chance you take with brand new wild-caught fish. So... I'm looking for some slightly used reef-safe fish that don't get too large (remember - 50 gallon, so no tangs), aren't known for being carpet surfers (open top), don't require special, $$$ expensive $$$ food sources (e.g. - mandarins), but are COLORFUL and active. I'm also not interested in expensive rarities - nothing that will break the bank! Let me know what'cha got!!!!

seriously?? ..way to give him input and provide assistance..

anyways, back on topic:
Joe, I would recommend a clown pair. I have a 50g cube with an onyx pair and they're pretty active and don't look stressed in a smaller tank. I've seen a couple for sale in the livestock thread. From time to time, you may also find a small fairy wrasse for sale. I have one in my 50g too and they all do fine in the same tank.

Steve -

I don't have a nem, and don't know if I'll ever get one and don't want to worry about a clown trying to host in a brain or an acan and getting sucked in! Right now I have a flame angel and a single reef chromis. Things that I'd like to pick up include:

- more chromis (total of 3 or 4) - I had two others go carpet surfing, but if there are other fish in the tank, I think it'll mitigate the pecking order tension.
- Purple firefish
- some other kinds of dartfish - although I think these are jumpers...
- a fairy wrasse (or other reef-safe wrasse) - I really dig the one with the blue back
- perhaps a small toby puffer if someone is getting rid of one of the kinds that is reef-safe
- gobies?
- what have you (any other suggestions?)

So the discussion is all good, but... no one has any fish that meet the above criteria that they want/need to unload?

Any fish you buy is going to have it's problems, and no matter what you get it'll jump sooner later.

If a clown decides to host a brain coral, nothing is going to happen to it.

Possums are great fish too.

Sorry - not really interested in clowns right now - I may be at some point in the future - if I pick up a nem. Kinda interested in the sleeper Lisa, still have it? Sent you a pm, but no reply. Something that sifts the sand would be a bonus!
