Finished acclimation. And upon further advice, I gave the regal a freshwater dip for ten minutes. I can't say for sure if flukes came off, but the regal had a white rice sized particle on it's tail during the dip. I'll have to look closer tomorrow.

At this point, I might just bite the bullet and blow four bills on one from Diver's Den. Problem is that they rarely come in and they sell out fast.

What's was your quarantine procedure for the last Regal you got? How did it behave during QT?

Well just my opinion... On ur next purchase, maybe u would consider putting him directly to ur MD? I don't have a QT so all my fish always go straight to MD, when I first got the regal he didn't eat for about a week, he did a very small amount of nipping on everything I threw in that first week, not nearly enough to survive a week I think. He did however pick my rock non stop, or maybe u can try live feed but seems like it loved pods. Still constantly picks rock in between all the feedings

I acclimated him for an hour and a half to match the salinity. Then gave it a 10 minute freshwater bath (flukes dropped off him) and put it in the tank. It was hiding the first day and then it was acting normal on the second moving around. He had white stringy poop which I was gonna treat with metro/focus. He also had a bit of a white tip on it's mouth which might have been shipping stress. The last time I saw him was yesterday afternoon and it seemed like it was doing fine. And this morning he's a floater.

I'd hate to risk my DT with a fish that is known to carry flukes. This one did have flukes which was revealed by the freshwater bath. I just don't wanna risk it.

With the fish you have, I wouldn't risk it either. Better to die in QT than infect the DT. Good luck with the search.

I by no means am a QT expert, but wouldn't it be less stressful on the fish to have first acclimated to the salinity, then let it rest a few days in QT then do the freshwater dip? Seems like a lot of stress in a short period of time.

That's how iv always done it, the only thing totals into account is if any symptoms are apparent I would attack them right away.

The longer you wait the worst it is. For me if the fish is strong enough to survive the FW dip then they are healthy enough to were they are going to make it. I been FW dipping all my new fish I aint taking no risks no more...

You're right Cody. Jason and I were discussing that. That's how he said he would have done it.

This next regal I'm gonna pick up tomorrow, I'm gonna feed and observe. According to the LFS it's already eating.
