Hello fellow reefers, I’m currently battling a hefty flatworm outbreak and searching for a predator to eat them. I tried sapphire damsels, but they aren’t getting the job done. If anyone has a velvet nudibranch they’d be willing to sell, I’d love to buy! I’m located in la mesa

What kind of flatworms.
They’re a shade of dark red and under 1/4 inch long. I see them all over the rocks in the morning, but they’re hard to find by mid-day. I’m assuming that means they’re most active at night. I’ve been having problems with my LPS recently and am thinking the flatworms could be the cause. Whether they are or aren’t, I’d still like them gone. I have some pictures, but as I do t have a microscope or magnifying glass, I’m not sure how helpful the pictures would be. I’ll add one anyways though.

The blue velvet slugs should definitely take care of those, the reason I was asking about a wrasse is because it will fare better long term. Once the slug eats all of your flatworms, it will slowly starve, and you don’t want them to die in your tank because they accumulate toxins from the flatworms. You could definitely sell it to someone else with a flatworm problem, but a wrasse (halichores or similar, not a fairy or flasher) will take care of these guys and some other pests you might have now and in the future

Spotted (target) mandarin have always worked for me. Plus they're awesome fish. Don't use flatworm exit until you've siphoned out a majority of the worms and be prepared to do a massive water change and run a lot of carbon. I would use flatworm exit as a last resort. Also, damsels never work in these situations, because they aren't active predators like wrasses or mandarins, they only eat the flatworms that are in the water column.
