Hey, so people don’t really do that anymore. It’s really rough on the fish. DR. Tims has a cycle starter liquid for like 5 bucks you should be able to find at your local LFS. I think I have some you can have for free if you are in my area 90036

Add Dr. Tims One and Only. You should be able to add your fish within a couple days of adding that and keeping your fish safe and healthy.

I also used a piece of shrimp in a nylon bag along the side of dr Tim’s when I started my tank

I also suggest after about 3-4 weeks into the cycle hit up a local for a clean piece of live rock from an established tank. It’s amazing how much all the critters in a piece of LR will help speed up the colonization of beneficial bacteria’s in your rock.
