I am setting up a 36x30x23 reef tank and am considering upgrading from Chinese black box LEDs. Does anyone have anything that would work? Nothing high-end...I’m already pushing my luck with my wife on this system. 😀

Your best bet is the 36" black boxes on amazon.

Regular LEDs have a 24 x 24 " coverage at 18 - 24" depth.

Are you going to keep sps? Just move the light up higher for spread and turn up the intensity

I’m not that big on SPS, more LPS and zoas. I’ve had a single black box over my 60g and never had issues. I was considering upgrading, but it kinda sounds like a larger unit could do fine. I’m assuming people are talking about the MarsAqua or ViaParSpectra 300w units on Amazon?
