I remember back in the day.....importers would dye regular leathers yellow.....after 4 months of the leather shedding, you get stuck with a basic brown leather LOL.....as far as the toxins, only when you frag them......

Too funny! But hey - green/brown corals look cool under actinics so I think importers saved a lot of money on dye due to the advancement in LEDs? ;)

Are yellow fiji leather supposed to be vibrant yellow under regular light? I have a “fiji” yellow leather…but not too sure of it’s true identity

Not sure what you mean by regular light....you mean less than 10K? I had mine under 6500K and it looked like that.....yes. a vibrant leather

I've spent 2023 looking for these....the only way to get any (as far as I can tell) is via frags.....as they cant be imported in anymore....
I know Vivid had some a while ago, but Unique acquires some of their stock from clients/customers, not just imports.

I bought mine from tidal gardens but paid an arm and a leg for a small frag. I remember back in the day they were one of the more affordable corals.

Yeah....they been out of stock also for awhile.....
I think my best bet is a local reefer with a frag.....found one in NY, but guy wanted some serious $$$ for a 1" frag

I have a piece that's supposedly from a 20+ year old colony. I didn't verify myself, but guy I got it from is into the lineage stuff a bit. It's still small and it's gonna be a while til I frag it myself, but I see you on the forum all the time, so I'll for sure keep you in mind:cool:

It's just been chillin on my frag rack while I try to plan a safe spot for it to grow(i have a mean tank), so it hasn't been getting the best light and polyps have gone fairly green for now, but the flesh stays a nice yellow

This was the one I used to have before. Even with the light off you could see the nice yellow color it had. The polyps also had a nice yellow color when they were slowly opening up. Unfortunately it never really took off for me and died when I had my major coral crash
